NorCal Trio Down Again Prove ‘The Devil Is A Gentleman’ With New Album

Northern California post-hardcore outfit Down Again have self-released their debut full-length The Devil Is A Gentleman. The album pulls inspiration from bands like Underoath, Thrice, and Brand New proving the next wave of emo icons is just around the corner.

the trio strike a great blend between guttural vocals and emotional roots. Vocalist/guitarist Lenny Costa wrote The Devil Is A Gentleman to tell a story of inner struggle and coming to grips with those closest to him slowly drifting away. With lyrical themes ranging from losing faith, depression, hope, and relationships, each track is also left to the listener to interpret as their own. Commenting on their writing process the band said:

“We have an incredible synergy amongst the three of us. This is the sort of thing that is a total trip to look back at, how a few friends can take a bunch of ideas, candid stories, and put it all together in one full album to share.”

About the Bad

Down Again has assembled an album that easily sounds like a release from a band years into their career. But is just the beginning for these longtime friends in their early 20’s who grew up skating, surfing, and going to shows together in the bay area. The band is rounded out by Lenny Costa (vocals/guitar), Lucas Garcia (vocals/guitar/drums/keys), and Alex Wechter (bass).

These long time friends have spent the last eight years planning out their powerful debut. The band’s message and ideas were cultivated while outdoors skating, surfing, and hiking. Their debut album The Devil Is A Gentleman was produced and mixed by Nick Loiacono (Kingdom Of Giants, Wolf & Bear, Secret Band, Demon In Me).  You can check out the full album via Spotify below.
