By the Barricade Started A Record Label?

BtB Comp 1 Album ArtworkI don’t usually write personal articles but big changes are headed to By the Barricade. In just under three years this site went from an idea in a dorm room to a full fledged lifestyle. BTB’s team quickly grew with the help of writers and photographers from all over the country. With a common goal of giving every band equal share of the limelight regardless of size, By the Barricade progressed further than I ever dreamed. We’ve already made it into Alternative Press with the help of Rise or Die Records and covered festivals like Punk Rock Bowling, Self Help, and Vans Warped Tour.

Our recent compilation is a testament to how far By the Barricade has come in such a short time. Bands, labels, managers, and publicists jumped at the idea of physical distribution and we quickly sent out nearly all of our 2000 copies. Sending packages to countries like Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom blew my mind.

What’s Next?

AGR-LOGO-FINALBy the Barricade’s compilation kick-started the new label Awfully Good Records. I’ll be spending most of my time expanding the label for the foreseeable future. By the Barricade’s coverage may slow down a bit, but our goals and aspirations will live on through our label. With new signings and big plans, we are excited to help bands in tons of new ways.

SoCal Split CoverFiring All Cylinders, The Sex Tape Scandal, From Zero 2 Hero, and Desolate The Few have partnered with AGR for our next release. The SoCal Split highlights 20 tracks from some of Southern California’s most promising locals. Pre-Orders are available at the links below.

BTB still has plenty of room to grow but our posts will be far less frequent. Thanks to everyone who supported BtB throughout our ups and downs. We will never forget who stuck by our side since the very beginning. Let’s make 2017 a year to remember!
