A Better Hand Sign With Mutant League Records For ‘Cheap Smokes and Champagne’ EP

Have you seen the new music video from Minneapolis Alt-Rockers A Better Hand? Their latest single “Wrong One” brings their energetic style to a whole new level! The band’s angsty and upbeat tempo position them alongside genre heavy hitters like Set It Off and Issues.

The video for “Wrong One” was directed, shot, & edited by Alex Zare who’s led videos for many of the scene’s biggest icons like Real Friends and Knuckle Puck. Lead vocalist Jordon Salgado said the following about the release:

When we were writing Wrong One we really wanted to do something different. I think at least for me, my writing felt boxed in. I felt like I needed to write more “pop punk” and that left me with a feeling of less creative control. When writing Wrong One, I threw it all out the window. We wrote how we wanted and didn’t care what genre it’d be classified under. We wanted to be ourselves, something we haven’t really felt in a while.

Formed in 2018, the group consists of Jordon Salgado (Vocalist), Taylor Allen (Drummer), and Kyle Kriegshauser (Bassist). A Better Hand was recently featured in Alternative Press as the biggest rising band in Minnesota and it’s easy to see why.  Despite the band’s short history, they have already been able to incorporate inspiration from across the music sphere. While keeping true to their roots the band has already stretched far beyond traditional pop punk boundaries with their rendition of Post Malone‘s “Circles”.

Jordan had the following to say about recent musical inspiration:

Love.45 will forever be one of my greatest inspirations because they really were the first time I decided I wanted to do music, but we take inspiration from so many different artists. Personally, I listen to far more rap and hip hop these days than rock, but I’ve to name a few, I’ve drawn a lot of Inspiration from Aries, Lil Uzi Vert and Justin Bieber lately.

There’s more than just inspiration that went into the upcoming album. Cheap Smokes and Champagne was produced by Seth Henderson at ABG Recording (State Champs, Broadside). When asked about changes to the bands’ writing and recording process since A Better Hand‘s last album Out Of Sight Out Of Mind

Jordan mentioned:

It’s a much better process now. We don’t force a writing session. When it comes, it comes. It put so much less stress on us as a unit and the songs were better because of it.
