Taking Back Sunday Storms Kansas City

If you spend a Friday night in Kansas City during the summer, there’s nothing like taking yourself down to the Power & Light District for some good food, a fun atmosphere, and live music at KC Live! On September 15th Taking Back Sunday rolled through town. With them came Potty Mouth, a pop punk band that sure does know what it means to have a good time on stage.

Potty MouthPotty Mouth took the stage with a fierceness that proved that they know what they’re doing. The group was definitely more melodic in sound compared to other bands looped into the pop punk genre. On their long trip Chicago for Riot Fest, they were full of energy. You could almost see the excitement radiate from their bodies as they blew through their 2016 single, “Smash Hit”, as well as “Cherry Picking” from their self-titled EP.

Taking Back SundayConcertgoers’ reactions were priceless as Taking Back Sunday hit the stage. They opened with “Tidal Wave”, the second track and the title of their 2016 release, and a rush of energy. The band was immediately jumping around on stage alongside the crowd around them. Everybody seemed to love the show, especially when the band kicked in with “You Know How I Do”. Without skipping a beat the rush of excitement continued as “Error: Operator” followed.

Taking Back Sunday’s live performances have become quite the local legend. It’s clear to see why die-hard fans flock to this band in droves. This writer will be counting the days until the band returns to Kansas City.
